ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. — Two winning artists in Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor’s annual Art is Ageless® juried competition will be featured in the 2025 Art is Ageless calendar produced by PMMA (Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America®).

“Happy Spring” a Mixed Media/Crafts entry by Karen Johnson, and “Fairy Land” a Painting entry by Dena VanNostrand, will appear in the calendar when it is released this fall.

The works were first selected among the winners of the local competition and were automatically entered into a masterpiece level competition with winning art from 14 other PMMA® communities. More than 180 entries were received for this year’s masterpiece competition. The winners are featured in the Art is Ageless calendar with pull-out postcards and greeting cards.

“Beauty in Lavender,” a Drawing by Linda Gibbons, will be featured on an Art is Ageless greeting card.

“Crochet Lap Afghan,” a Fiber Arts entry by Lila Armstrong, will be included in the calendar’s honorable mention gallery.

“We’re thrilled to see our local artists be featured so prominently after our local exhibit and competition,” said Megan Giger, life enrichment assistant. “Their work is proof that creativity remains, no matter our age.”

A copyrighted program of PMMA, Art is Ageless is open exclusively to people aged 65 and over. For the competition, works must have been completed in the past five years.

Started in 1980, Art is Ageless is an extension of PMMA’s wellness programs, which focus on mental, physical, social and spiritual health. It encourages Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor residents and other area seniors to express their creativity through its annual competition.
